Five nabbed from Ghaziabad for assaulting policeman

Police have arrested five men after they assaulted a Head Constable posted with Delhi Police and stole his wireless set, officials said on Thursday.
The incident came to the fore on March 12, when around 7 pm Head Constable Karamvir Singh was on patrolling duty. "While patrolling on the foot-over-bridge of Shivaji Bridge railway station, Karamvir Singh found six-seven people who were shouting and abusing out in the open. He chose to intervene and they assaulted him and took away his wireless set," said a senior police official.
The CCTV footage of Shivaji Bridge railway station was examined and seven suspicious persons were seen. Five of the accused were identified as Arjun Singh Rawat, Ajay Kumar, Deepanshu, Sachin and Yogesh Kumar. They were arrested from various parts of Ghaziabad. During questioning, the accused admitted that they were drunk. Two other youth were also present with the five accused, namely Arun Choudhary and Mohit, who are currently absconding. The wireless set has been recovered.
