Fire breaks out at chemical godown in Shastri park
New Delhi: A huge fire engulfed a chemical godown in Sonia Vihar in Shastri park area of North East Delhi on Friday afternoon. Immediately 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
According to police the fire was in the open godown near Radha Swami Temple gate number 2. The fire was so enormous that it could be seen from a distance.
On preliminary enquiry it was known that Thinner was kept in the godown which was inflamable. Three workers identified as Ajay, Bhola and Vicky (age 18-20 years) were present in the godown. Though all three managed to sneak our of the godown in time, Ajay aged 20 years sustained minor burn injury in his hand. He was taken to some private hospital by the employer. Owner of the godown is Prashant resident of Bhajanpura. "12 fire tenders came at the spot and now fire is under control. The fire department also conducted a search inside the premises and found no causality took place," said Atul Garg, chief fire officer.
"Chemical, one Bolero (Pick-up), one scooty, one old scooter and some articles kept in the godown got burnt in the fire incident" said a senior police officer.
