FIR to be lodged against Home Guards who withdrew salaries with fake records
Noida: Following the orders from SSP Gautam Buddh Nagar, Noida Police will register an FIR in connection of fraud in deployment of Home Guard Jawans and their salary withdrawal.
Cops said that upon looking into the records of seven police stations of Noida, it was found that 50 per cent of the salary drawn for two months (May and June) was done on basis of fake records.
According to police, around Rs 7.5 lakh were withdrawn in salaries of these home guards without showing up them for work during these two months.
Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar said that the scam came to light after a commandant approached the police officials, alleging that salaries for home guards were being disbursed on the basis of fake muster rolls.
"Based on the complaint received, a probe was launched into the case which was headed by the Superintendent of Police, Noida. It came to light that the home guards had got salaries for more days than they actually served. We have given directions to investigate the matter and will take appropriate actions against those responsible for the scam," said Krishna.
Detailing on the matter, the senior cops said that if a home guard turned up for work for 10 days, he was shown present on duty for 20 days in the attendance register of the district commandant of the home guard.
"The home guards are not permanent employees and are recruited on a casual basis. They do not have any fixed monthly salary and are paid based on the number of days of duty," the SSP added.
Meanwhile, the police chief had then written to the state government, seeking permission to lodge an FIR against the accused officers. Instead, the home guard department started a state-level inquiry by a four-member committee. Members of the committee also visited Gautam Budh Nagar last week and carried out an inquiry.
