FIR registered against placement agency

New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women has registered a case against placement agency for selling two-month-old kid. The women rights body said that the baby was trafficked at least 4-5 times. According to DCW, they received a complaint on its 181 helpline number regarding the case of trafficking of a 2-month-old boy from Sikkim & West Bengal.

On receiving the complaint, a team from DCW reached the complainant who introduced them to the 21-year-old mother of the child who was trafficked. She along with her husband was approached by a man who promised to get them employment in Delhi and both of them along with their baby were brought here in Taimur Nagar from Silliguri, West Bengal.

DCW said that she was convinced to leave her child with the placement agency owners while she was supposed to work for the next six months. When she refused to part with her child, she was locked inside a room and her child was taken away by them. The woman sought the help of the Commission in the matter.

The team of DCW immediately contacted the person who had allegedly taken the baby away who stated that they had given the baby to someone else. On contacting the second person, the Commission learned that the baby was trafficked atleast 4-5 times.

In order to follow up on the matter, the DCW team paid a surprise visit to the location of the accused and found that the door to her home was open. The DCW team then called the police and informed them of the same. The Police arrived but the accused managed

to flee.
