Feuding groups of lawyers open fire in Tis Hazari Court

Two groups of brawling lawyers allegedly opened fire in the Tis Hazari Court premises here on Wednesday, police said.
At about 1:35 pm, gunshots echoed as two opposing factions of lawyers opened fire, causing panic among those present, but no injuries were reported.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered that two groups, comprised of lawyers and office bearers, had allegedly fired shots in the air. “The situation is now under control, and legal action is being initiated,” stated said Sagar
Singh Kalsi, DCP North Delhi.
Video footage captured during the incident revealed that the individual firing the shot was identified as Manish Sharma, former Vice President of the Delhi Bar Association of Tis Hazari court. Sharma claimed that the incident was a result of crossfire.
Delhi Police officials said there was longstanding animosity between some office bearers of the Delhi Bar Association. While the immediate cause of the altercation remains unknown, a thorough investigation is currently underway.
The Bar Council of Delhi promptly suspended Manish Sharma as Senior Vice President of Delhi Bar Association, Tis Hazari courts.
KK Manan, Chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi, said a thorough inquiry will be conducted on the incident.
On April 21, a 49-year-old debarred lawyer fired four rounds at a woman and wounded her in the Saket court complex in south Delhi. A man who works as a ‘munshi’ in the court was also injured in the firing that occurred around 10.30 am.
In September 2021, jailed gangster Jitendra Gogi was shot dead by two men posing as lawyers inside a crowded Rohini courtroom.
