Female housekeeping staff commits suicide inside school campus in Noida

Noida: A 36-year-old female housekeeping staff at Delhi Public School in sector 30 of Noida allegedly committed suicide inside school campus on Thursday evening, said police. However, deceased's kin suspected foul play and staged a protest outside school after placing the body at school's main gate on Friday.

According to police, the matter came to light around 6 pm on Thursday when the woman identified as Basanti, a native of Farrukhabad and lived with her family in Nithari area, was spotted by a security guard, hanging from a neem tree inside school campus.

Rakesh Kumar, deceased's husband said that the woman had gone to school for Independence Day celebrations but didn't return home till evening.

"She was supposed to reach home by 12 but when she didn't return home till evening, we began searching her. When we asked the security supervisor at school he searched the campus and found her hanging from the tree inside the school campus. She was normal when she left home and we suspect foul play. We demand an investigation into the case," he added.

Meanwhile, police said that the woman had died of hanging. "Following the information received, a police team rushed to the spot and took the body into custody which was sent for postmortem. The autopsy report revealed death due to hanging. She had hanged herself from the tree by a dupatta. However we will investigate the matter once a complaint is received," said Shwetabh Pandey, Circle Officer 1, Noida.

Till the time of writing this report, the family had not filed any complaint in the case.
