Family friend kills 7-yr-old boy, keeps body inside suitcase for over a month

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested a person who allegedly smothered seven-year-old boy to death in North West Delhi's Nathupura area. The police claimed that the accused kept the child's body packed in a suitcase inside his rented accommodation for more than a month.
The accused identified as Awdhesh, a native of UP, lived in Nathupura area, few meters away from the deceased house. He claimed himself as a UPSC aspirant and appeared in some examination but failed to clear it. The deceased was Class one student. The accused slept in the same room for several days where the body was kept.
Police claimed that the body was discovered on Tuesday morning from his house after which the arrest was made. Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Aslam Khan stated that the boy went missing on January 7 and the accused was the first person who came to the police station for lodging a missing complaint of the minor. "When the police team entered the room and found decomposed body from the suitcase," said DCP Khan.
Police claimed that the accused had personal enmity with the family and also wanted the ransom. The family members of the deceased told Millennium Post that the accused was living in the area for more than seven years and he was like the family friend.
Police claimed that the family members gave importance to the accused which was not liked by deceased's father. "The accused came to know that he was not liked by the father and wanted to take revenge on him," said a police official.
The family had also told the children to stay away from the accused which was not liked by Awdhesh. Police sources claimed the accused had also gone to car showroom with the deceased's father and there he had seen a car.''We are probing whether he had any plan to buy a car from ransom money which he was likely to demand," sources added.
A few days ago family members gave some names of suspects including the accused to police and during investigation police cracked the case.
Police are now waiting for postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death. The deceased's sister claimed that few hours before the child went missing he had told her that Awdhesh will buy him a new bicycle. "On the day of kidnapping, he asked me about the time as he told me that he will go outside around 5:30 pm, I told him that I will tell mother," said the girl. The family members have claimed to have a CCTV recording in which child was seen last time.
