Family files complaint with police, alleges murder

New Delhi: After the mysterious death of the 11 persons inside the house in North Delhi's Burari area on Sunday, the deceased's family had moved a complaint to Delhi Police alleging that it was murder, not any spiritual practice. The police will move the complaint to the Crime Branch which is investigating the case.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Vineet Kumar told the Millennium Post that the complaint was received on Monday from the relatives of the Bhatia family alleging that the 11 family members were killed. "No one was named as the accused in the complaint. We have received it and told them that they have already registered a case under section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code," said Kumar adding that they will send the complaint to

Crime Branch.

The mystery of pipes found in Bhatia house remains still unsolved while the discovery of 11 iron rods in the gate of the house have emerged as another twist in the case. The police are investigating the case from all angles, but there are already murmurs of a spiritual link. Ten of the 11 members of the Bhatia family were found hanging from an iron-mesh in the ceiling, while the body of 77-year-old Narayan Devi, the head of the family, was lying on the floor in another room of the house.

The investigation in the case revealed that the family did not want to die but it was the superstitious practice which suddenly went wrong. Police said that the two registers recovered from the temple in the house had notes talking about 'salvation', 'badh tapasya', 'shunya'. The investigator in the Crime Branch had ruled out the possibility of foul play in the case stating that they have not found anything in the deceased's stomach.

"During the investigation, it was found that Lalit (deceased) had delusion and he used to talk like his father who died several years ago and the family members used to write on the registers whatever he used to speak during delusion period," said the investigators.

Cops find another register

New Delhi: Two days after 11 persons were found dead inside a house at Sant Nagar in Burari on Sunday, Delhi Police has questioned more than 70 persons including family members of the deceased. Police sources also claimed that they have found one more register in which philosophical matters have been written.

Police sources claimed that the questioning is based on every single phone call - incoming or outgoing - in last three days of the incident. "Every caller has been questioned by the police team to get the clues," said a police source. It is suspected that the family had started writing in the register in 2011. Another register was found during the investigation which has more than 100 pages in which philosophical and psychological things were written, which suggested that the family believed in superstitious power.

A senior police official, privy to the probe, said the family displayed symptoms of shared psychosis and they may use a psychiatrist expert to unravel the case. The police will try to recreate the sequence of events. The police will scan the past of Lalit to check whether he had received any treatment.

Earlier, two registers carried the notes which stated that "the human body is temporary and one can overcome fear by covering their eyes and mouth. Police said that the registers would be sent for forensic analysis to determine which family member wrote in them. They will also try to analyse if different members wrote in the registers at different points of time.

They are scanning through the cell-phones of the deceased to know the details of their internet search history. The cell-phones were found in an almirah wrapped in a polythene bag. Police have claimed that there could be a "religious" or "spiritual" angle to the deaths.

The notes also had specific instructions about how stools have to be used for climbing.
