Fake call centre offering jobs busted in Noida Sec-6
Noida: In a joint operation carried by the Noida Police Cyber Cell and personnel from Sector-20 police station, a fake call centre which duped people on the pretext of providing employment was busted during a raid at Sector-6 area on Tuesday afternoon.
Cops said that 18 persons employed at the fake call centre were arrested.
According to police officials, a raid was conducted at the office of 'Career Builder Services' located in B block of Sector-6. "The raid was part of undergoing drive against fake call Centers operating in the city" said Ashok Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police (Crime).
He said that the accused persons used to gather data from an online portal and would dupe people on the pretext of providing them with employment opportunities.
"The accused persons would call a number from the database and offered them job. They would ask the victims to first register themselves and pay a registration fee which ranged from Rs 1,500 to Rs 15,000. Once3 the victims transferred the money in their bank accounts, the accused would stop receiving their calls," added Singh.
Police said that the owner, manager and three assistants are absconding at the moment.
"Most of the arrested are residents of Bihar, the rest are from Delhi and UP," Singh said.
