Noida: With the arrest of 45 persons, including 22 women and 23 men, cyber cell department of Gautam Buddh Nagar Police, on Thursday, busted a fake call Centre who used to dupe people by posing as officials from flipkart, Myntra and other e-commerce websites and lure them on pretext of offering gifts, cash back and other benefits. Cops said that the call Center was being operated from sector 6 and sector 7 of Noida.

According to police, all the arrested persons are employees of the call Center and are mostly graduates. The incident came to light after a complainant from Jewar area of Greater Noida lodged a complaint of being duped by the gang.

Detailing over the modus operandi, Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar said that the accused call centre owner, Dileep Saroj, had sourced data of thousands of Flipkart and Myntra users from an accused named Nandan.

"The gang would call target customers looking to purchase from popular online sites and offer them items like LED TVs in reward, heavy discounts, cashback, security money, lucky draws and others on their purchase. As the customer gets trapped they ask them to transfer money into their bank account online through google pay and other gateways. Once the amount gets credited they stop responding to the calls while the product for which payment was made was never delivered" said Krishna.

Meanwhile police are yet to arrest both the main accused Dileep and Nandan who are mastermind behind the racket.
