Exhibition at Vigyan Bhawan on energy conservation by SDMC

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner Puneet Kumar Goel on Monday said that the Corporation's stall in an exhibition at Vigyan Bhawan, organised to mark World Environment Day, is proving to a big hit.
"We have exhibited our achievements, including replacing street lights by installing three lakh LED lights, 2.25 MWp of solar generation from rooftops of 55 municipal buildings and introducing e-vehicles for official use. They have been well appreciated by visitors at the exhibition will continue up tomorrow," said Goel.
He exhorted citizens to come to Vigyan Bhawan to witness the pioneering efforts of SDMC in overcoming adverse effects of rising air pollution. "Our stall has been presenting a turnaround in the field of energy conservation, as all facts and figures have been exhibited in a pictorial as well as disseminative manner."
Goel pointed out that President Ram Nath Kovind in December award SDMC for its efforts in effecting an annual reduction in energy consumption from 168.5 million units to 79.3 million units, which resulted in an annual energy saving of 89.2 million units corresponding to an annual savings of Rs 87 crore to SDMC.
"We replaced 2.81 lakh street lights, park lights and semi mast lights with LED lights," he said.
