Ex-YEIDA ACEO arrested in `126 crore land scam

Greater Noida: A former Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has been arrested by Gautam Buddh Nagar police in connection with the infamous Rs 126 crore land scam, said police on Sunday. Police said that this is by far sixth arrest made by police into the scam.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Satish Kumar, a

native of Shamli. He was picked up from his house in sector omicron-I of Greater Noida during a morning raid on Sunday.

"Kumar was posted as ACEO of Yamuna Expressway authority till July, 2015 and was one of the main conspirators of the scam that was orchestrated in 2014. Investigations revealed that the papers related to purchase and selling of land involved in the scam were signed and approved by the accused. A Non-bailable Warrant (NBW) was issued against him and he tried to take a stay on his arrested from Allahabad High court but remained unsuccessful. Police have been making efforts to nab the accused but he kept on changing places to evade arrest," said Sujeet Kumar Upadhyay, station House officer of Beta-II police station.
