EOW probes fake Kuwait job racket
New Delhi: The Economic and Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has started a probe on the complaints of 30 people who have accused a private travel agency of duping their money on the pretext of providing jobs in Kuwait.
According to police, two people identified as Salman Khan and Arif Khan were made suspects in the case. They are officials of the international travel agency situated in South East Delhi.
The complainants in the case told police that they were induced by the banners and posters pasted on the electrical poles on different roads of Delhi. Later they met suspects.
"The travel agency staff induced complainants that they can arrange the jobs in Kuwait for them. They (complainants) have paid Rs 60,000 per head along with their passports to the suspects," police said. The suspects assured them to handover the air tickets, original passports and agreements on May 9.
Later when the complainants reached the office of the travel agency for taking their tickets and passports, they found that the office and mobile persons of suspects were closed.
The complainants alleged that all together they have paid Rs 18,60,000 to the suspects. Some money was paid in cash or transferred to the bank account of the travel agency. A case under sections 406,420 and 120 B of IPC was registered at EOW police station and further probe is going on.
