Greater Noida: A 22-year-old engineering student was found dead inside his paying guest (PG) accommodation situated in Sector Alpha 1 of Greater Noida on Wednesday morning, said police.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Prashant Yadav, a second year student of IIMT College in Knowledge Park here. The PG accommodation, where he stayed alone, is situated outside the college campus.
"On Wednesday, around 10.30 am, the domestic help reached Yadav's room and found him unconscious on the bed. Immediately, she raised an alarm and informed police," said Brijesh Kumar Verma, SHO, Kasna police station.
"A police team rushed to the post and took Yadav to nearby Kailash Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the family has been informed," added Verma.
Police said it is yet to be confirmed whether Yadav was murdered or he committed suicide. "Prima facie investigation suggests it to be a case of suicide, but we are not ruling out other possibilities. The actual reason can only be ascertained after post-mortem. However, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot," said a senior police official.
He further said that the mother of the deceased, Beena Yadav, is a Sub-Inspector in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar.
