Eight contract killers arrested; 8 firearms and 22 cartridges recovered

Eight people have been arrested for allegedly being given a contract to murder a prominent hotelier cum real estate magnet from Greater Noida on Monday.

The accused, Hari Ram, Chen Pal Gurjar, Sandeep Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Chaman Prakash, Manish Khari and Bijender were arrested on April 29. The contract was given by gangster Ravi Rupawas. The motives of the gang were ascertained after the Anti-auto Theft Squad of south district received a tip-off that the contract killers had taken a supari to eliminate a prominent hotelier.
The informer told police that the accused would be assembling near Ruchi Vihar in south Delhi. They were supposed to head towards the target from that point. On Saturday, five men came out of a car and were later joined by three other near the Israeli Camp T-point. The group was confronted and arrested after a brief exchange of fire, said the cops.

The cops recovered eight firearms and 22 cartridges. One US made firearm, one British made semi-automatic pistol, one Indian pistol and five single shot crude weapons were also recovered from their possession, added the police.
