Duo who took to stealing bikes to impress girlfriends arrested

New Delhi: To give joyrides to his girlfriends and also to live a lavish life, two youths including a dancer started committing motor vehicle theft but soon they landed on police net.

The accused were identified as Manikant alias Suraj and Ravi. They were arrested from Dwarka area. Police said Manikant, who had completed his Class XII from Bihar, came to Delhi in 2012 and lived alone.

He started working as a waiter in social functions. But his earnings were not enough to sustain a good lifestyle, which is he started looking for alternative income also.

The team of Special Staff of Dwarka made the arrest under the supervision of ACP (operation) Aditya Gautam and led by SI Naveen.

"In 2014, he stole a scooty and was arrested by Tilak Nagar police station. In 2015, he was again arrested in a robbery case at Uttam Nagar. He is very fond of living a luxurious life and has regularly visited the Night Discs/Clubs. As he is a very good dancer, soon he became very popular among the girls and he is famous with the name 'Rocky Handsome'.

"He used stolen cars, scooties, and motorcycles for giving joyrides to his girlfriends," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh.

DCP further added that accused Ravi, a resident of village Haraiya in Gonda (UP), is fond of bikes and has several girlfriends but did not have enough money to sustain his lifestyle. He started committing petty crimes for easy money.

He met Manikant in 2016 and was influenced by his lavish lifestyle. He also got involved in criminal activities with him for earning easy money.
