Duo who robbed Metro passengers dressed as women apprehended

New Delhi: Delhi Metro Police said they have apprehended a juvenile and arrested a 22-year-old man, who disguised as women wearing scarves on their faces and robbed passengers travelling in the Delhi Metro.
The accused man was identified as Satyam Gupta, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad.
According to police, on February 19, a woman filed a complaint with police, stating that while she was traveling from Vishwavidyalaya Metro station towards Rajiv Chowk and reached Kashmere Gate station, she noticed that her mobile phone had gone missing.
Her suspicion turned towards two woman, who were standing right behind her.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Pankaj Singh stated that during investigation of the case, CCTV footage of Metro stations between Vishwa Vidyalaya and Kashmere Gate was analysed and the two suspects were identified.
On scrutiny of their criminal records, both the persons were found to be involved previously in previous theft cases.
Accordingly, raids were conducted, resulting in the apprehension of the juvenile and arrest of Gupta.
"They commit thefts inside Metro trains by covering their face with scarves, mostly used by women. They would enter in the women's coach by covering their faces, pretending to be women by taking benefit of their thin built," said the DCP
Police claimed that during Gupta's interrogation, it came to light that he is currently employed in a factory.
To fulfill his desire for an extravagant life, he started committing theft in Metro trains. Later, he brought along the juvenile, whom he had met through a mutual friend.
