Dubious land deals under the scanner of investigative agencies

Gurugram: Land deals, that occurred in the past, have come under the scanner of not only the state but even the central agencies. In the latest case, the Enforcement Directorate has sought information on the alleged case of money laundering in the sale of properties in sector 58-69 under Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda. The case is also being investigated by the CBI.

It has been alleged that the administration under Hooda regime changed the land use pattern and acquired land of over one thousand acres from the seven villages way back in 2009 and then sold it to the builders.

The aggrieved villagers filed a petition at the Supreme Court which then led to the case first being handed over to CBI in 2017 and now the Enforcement Directorate has sought details from the public agencies. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister flying squad has begun to investigate the alleged corruption in the allotment of plots. Various incidents of corruption reported in the process of residential plot allotment have caused many residents not able to get their dream home in Gurugram.

In the latest case that has surfaced, there are allegations that favouritism was followed in allotting the plots during a lucky draw even in Sector -50. This is not the first time when such corruption cases involving the public agencies have surfaced in Gurugram. The multiple plot allotment scheme of HUDA still continues to be investigated.

This case follows after the multiple land allotment scams that resulted in the loss of credibility of HUDA and also impacted the integrity of many public and defence personnel. Through the RTI, it was revealed that various public officials who were designated to receive one residential plot were given two or more three plots. The investigations into the case revealed that there were as many 44 HUDA officials who were involved in the connivance and indulging in unethical practices.
