DU NCWEB to add 3k seats this year
New Delhi: The Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) of Delhi University is all set to increase 3,000 seats in this academic year to accomodate a circular of Union Grant Commion (UGC) to implement 10 per cent quota upper class weaker section. However, currently around 12,168 seats are available in 26 centers in Delhi.
UGC's circular says the DU administration have to apply 10 per cent reservation for the economically backword classes from this academic session 2019-20.
"This reservation is goin to imply on the student of 26 NCWEB regular students of 26 centers of the varsity.
Professor Hansraj Suman said that with the implementation of this circular mostly the female students will get the maximum benefit, who wish to pursue their academic course through the NCWEB.
Moreover, their cut off list will also be increased in number and their admission process will also be run through the university.
Professor Suman also said that with the implementation of this circular in Delhi University admission 2019-20 various colleges will enhance the 10 per cent seats in their colleges and in various departments.
At present, every courses of NCWEB- BA and Bcom have 240 and 180 respectively and with the implementation the BA programme will have 300 seats and B Com ( pass ) will have 225 seats. Currently, BA programme has 122 seats for General, SC- 45, ST-22 and OBC-81 and EWS 30, similary for the Bcom Pass course General 90, SC-34, ST-17 OBC- 61 and EWS 23.
"With that around 105 seats are going to rise in every centers and 105 more female students will avail and almost 60 seats for BA progrmme and 45 seats in Bcom will rise in each center of the NCWEB. And in total around 2730 seats will be added in NCWEB related courses.
