DU admissions: Nearly 1L registrations so far

New Delhi: Nearly 1 lakh applications have been received so far for admissions to Delhi University's undergraduate courses which began on May 15, an official said on Thursday. The official associated with admissions, said a total of 99,736 applications have been received so far. Among them, 52,426 are merit-based applicants and 21,796 are entrance-based applicants who have either completed or have almost completed the online registration process, the rest have not crossed even 50 percent of the process.
Around 25,000 applicants have made payments, the official added. "Total male applicants are 36,333, female 30,404 and other applicants only 13. Total unreserved applicants are 34,368 and total OBC non-creamy layer applicants are 9,853," the official said.
The registration for UG programmes will end at 6 pm on June 7. The varsity has, for now, announced that there will a total of five cut-offs with the first cut-off scheduled to be issued on June 19. Moreover, five year integrated course of Journalism has also been included in the list of the course available for the undergraduate course aspirants, for that students need not to fill another form, said the official. Moreover, the application form has the option to apply for both the courses related to merit or entrance-based, with one time submission of the fees, official added.
A student may select all programmes/courses of interest through a single online registration form. It is important to note that one can apply in all merit-based as well as entrance-based courses through the same online application, the varsity said.
The admissions for the PG-2018 programmes started on Friday. Moreover, PG admissions are done in two modes viz Direct Admission and via Entrance Test. 50% PG seats are reserved for direct admission to Delhi University students while 50% seats will be filled via entrance test. The process of application is same for both. However, the entrance tests for PG programmes will go online from this year. The online application process for M.Phil and Ph.D programmes will begin on May 20. The application process for PG programmes and the PG-diploma in cyber security and law commenced on Friday, while for MPhil/PhD courses it will begin on May 20.
The university will hold "Open Day" sessions between May 21 and May 29 (except Sunday) at Conference Centre near gate number-4 on North Campus.
"Open Days will have two sessions – 10 am to 11:30 am and 12 pm to 1:30 pm. On these days, information about registration, admission process, schedule and other related information would be provided," a DU statement said.
