DTTDC records highest turnover in last five years

NEW DELHI: The 200th Board of Directors Meeting and Annual General Meeting of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development (DTTDC) Ltd to examine audited annual accounts for financial year 2017-18 was held on Saturday.

The meeting was overseen by Deputy Chief Minister and DTTDC chairman Manish Sisodia.

This year, Delhi Tourism achieved its highest ever turnover of Rs 1,159.52 crore and profit before tax, ie Rs 30.93 crore in the last 5 years contributing Rs 679 Crore to exchequer by way of excise, VAT and income tax.

Some of the achievements that led to this financial rise include setting up of solar plants at Dilli Haats in Pitam Pura and Janak Puri, completion of 30 government school projects for the Delhi Education Department, as well as other continuous efforts to promote Delhi as a tourist destination.

Furthermore, Delhi Tourism is all set to unveil the state-of-the-art Signature Cable-stayed Bridge Project by October 31.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, on September 27, Delhi Tourism organised the inauguration of an auditorium at Dilli Haat Janakpuri.

With a seating capacity of 800 people, the auditorium is one of the biggest hall spaces available across west Delhi.

Over the year, Delhi Tourism was awarded some prestigious accolades in the industry.

These includes the Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards, 2018 for Delhi as a shopping Destination, the Best Creative Publication for Delhi Tourism's Calendar featuring Best Shooting Locations in Delhi by Public Relations Council of India, and the Delhi Cinematic Brochure as one of the best publications by IATO.

Delhi Tourism has also successfully organised dinner for GST Council Members for the VAT Department of the Delhi government, as well as the Teachers Award Ceremony for Directorate of Education, among other festivals in the Capital.
