DTCP to form task force to combat illegal constructions

Gurugram: The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has formed a formed a special task force to act against illegal constructions and commercial shops that have sprouted in and around residential colonies.

With urbanisation happening at a rapid pace in Gurugram, regular complaints are being received of commercial structures coming up in residential areas.

Residential colonies situated along the busy roads of Golf Course road and MG Road are among the worst effected by this problem, and the lack of action by authorities is causing the problem to crop up in other areas as well.

Recently, a complaint was sent to the DTCP by the resident welfare association of DLF Phase-2, stating there are over 159 houses that are running commercial activities from their premises.

Moreover, a notice was sent to one of the homeowners in Saraswati Kunj, who was running a hotel from his house.

There is also the issue of paying guest accomodations and guesthouses mushrooming in the posh DLF Phase-3 area, owing to its proximity to commercial areas like Cyber City and Golf Course road.

Most of these establishments are unlicensed and built over an area of 150-200 square yards, with multiple storeys.

Now, there are also reports that in some of these areas, construction activities are taking place beyond the permissible limit.

Furthermore, most of the landowners, in the hunt for greater profits, are taking in more tenants than allowed.

Even though notices have been sent by the DTCP, no concrete action has been taken.
