DPR being prepared for Metro connectivity to Old Gurugram
Gurugram: The Haryana government has again begun the plan to connect the old part of Gurugram with Metro network. For this purpose, it has appointed a consultant that will prepare the detailed project report (DPR) that will explore the viability of the mass transportation model.
There are plans to explore the metro route through Dundahera, Sector-23 and will then extend towards Dwarka. An alternative route by extending the HUDA City Centre metro route that will pass through Subash chowk has also been explored. However, owing to various problems this route has not fructified.
Not only are there plans to extend the operation of Delhi Metro in Gurugram but there are also plans to expand the services of Rapid Metro, one of the few private metro services that are operational. Owing to the limited connectivity and high costs the Rapid Metro has not been able to get the get the ridership numbers that was being targetted.
In form of services offered by DMRC, Gurugram is connected through Yellow Line. Even though there are only six stations in the city there are already lakhs of commuters that use the services of Metro daily to travel to not only Delhi but also areas like Noida.
