Domicile paper before '93 not necessary for OBC certificate
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has decided to remove a condition, dating back to 1993, as per which others backward class (OBC) certificate was issued in the Capital only to people with domicile proof.
By the removal of the 1993 condition, several OBC families in Delhi, who do not have domicile proof before 1993, will not be deprived of
provisions given by the government.
The decision was taken on Friday at a high-level meeting, held under the chairmanship of Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam, wherein senior officials of the Delhi government were also present.
Gautam instructed the Division Commissioner to resolve this issue in sync with the Government of India and take appropriate action for the welfare of the OBC community.
The Minister opined that since this subject is in the jurisdiction of the Delhi High Court, members of the OBC community may raise it at appropriate forums.
