DJB notifies regulation to dispose of septic tanks wastes
NEW DELHI: Delhi Jal Baord notified regulation for transportation and disposal of wastes of septic tanks in the national capital. These regulations aim to completely eliminate the practice of manual cleaning of sewer lines and to ensure proper disposal of septage. On Thursday, Delhi Gazette copy notification was tabled in the Assembly by the Urban Development Department. These Regulation shall come into force on the date of publication in the Gazette.
As per the notification, designated officers of Delhi Jal Board will issue licence for collection and transportation of septage to notified particular locations. Vendors without licences will not be allowed to operate. The directions were part of the Delhi Water Board Septage Management Regulations 2018, which was passed recently. The new guidelines were discussed at a seminar on Safe Disposal of Sewage Waste, where senior officers of various agencies and NGOs were present along with social activists and officials of the DJB.
As per notification, the licensee shall be responsible for taking all the safety measures including provision of hand held gas detectors, gas -masks, protective-gear, Oxygen-mask with oxygen-cylinder and first-aid Box etc.
