DJB clears projects to clean Yamuna
New Delhi: Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Friday cleared numerous projects aiming at cleaning Yamuna and Delhi to bring an improvement in water and waste management of DJB's system. The projects was approved by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The projects include, construction of 0.72 MG capacity additional UGR & BPS areas at G.T. Road Shahadra (TYA). "The proposed UGR shall be constructed in the premises of existing Over Head Tank, which will enhance the supply hours thereby maintaining equitable distribution. The total cost of the project is Rs. 19,97,61,216 and will be completed in 18 months," said a statement by DJB.
Other projects include, providing and laying 110 km sewer line in Sonia Vihar and Rajiv Nagar along with construction of 7 MGD Waste Wster Treatment Plant (WWTP), 12 MGD WWPS at Sonia Vihar (Rajeev Nagar) and 4.3 MGD WWPS at 5th Pusta, G-block, Sonia Vihar in East Delhi.
"Rehabilitation of Gravity Duct No.1,2 &3 emanating from Kilokari SPS and Chamber near Vinobapuri Metro Station Sriniwaspuri to Okhla STP. Gravity Duct No. 1,2 and 3 were constructed in the year 1938, 1956 and 1985 respectively. Gravity Duct No.3 emanates from Inlet Chamber near Vinobapuri Metro Station along Ring Road," DJB stated.
The rehabilitation of these ducts will be done by technology with structural lining at a total cost of approximately Rs. 662.46 crore which will be completed in 36 months.
A project for deployment of specially fabricated 100 of Sewer cleaning machines for cleaning of sewer lines in the narrow streets in Delhi for the period of seven years, will also be started. "There was no mechanical means available for cleaning of sewer lines in the narrow lanes in Delhi, out of the deployment of 200 sewer cleaning machines few have been received and remaining are expected to be received up to December 31," said a statement by DJB. It added that small size sewer cleaning machines shall be mounted on suitable CNG based four wheeler vehicle capable to operate in narrow street in Delhi having Jetting, Grabbing & Rodding provision among others. The total cost of the project is approximately Rs. 190 crore.
