After the Crime Branch of Delhi Police served a notice to him in Chennai for his alleged involvement in a bribery case, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (Amma) leader TTV Dinakaran reached Delhi on Saturday and joined the probe at Crime Branch's Inter State Cell office in Chanakyapuri.
Dinakaran was questioned about his links with Sukesh Chandrasekar, about the money trail in thecase and whether or not he personally met any official of the Election Commission in an attempt to buy the 'two leaves' symbol for his faction of the party.
It is learnt that an ACP ranked investigating officer quizzed Dhinakaran, the nephew of jailed AIADMK chief Sasikala.
Police have asked him to submit both his mobile phones and are also scanning his call records.
"Dinakaran is being asked about the money trail, his association with Sukesh
Chandrasekar and whether he has met any Election Commission official or not. It is a serious case. He might
also be made to meet Sukesh face-to-face," a senior police official said.
Crime Branch officials at Chanakyapuri did not allow Dinakaran's lawyers to accompany him as he reached the office at around 3 pm on saturday.
"We are examining his call records and WhatsApp messages to get to know if he has spoken to any Election Commission officials or Sukesh, who has already been arrested," said the police official.
Sources in the Delhi Police said that they have evidence against the deputy general secretary of AIADMK (Amma), which is the main reason that his name has been mentioned in the FIR.
Cops have also not ruled out the involvement of any Election Commission official in the alleged bribery case.
"We have not given clean chit to anyone. We might expand our investigation to other people as the case proceeds," the police official added.
The police had earlier arrested Sukesh Chandrasekar, a middleman who was allegedly trying to fix a deal with Election Commission officials to secure the 'two leaves' party symbol for the Amma faction of AIADMK for Rs 50 crore. Cops also recovered Rs 1,30,00,000 from Chandrasekar's possession.
