DFS: Blaze erupts in residential building, 4 occupants rescued
NEW DELHI: Four people, including two children, were safely rescued after a fire broke out in a residential building in northeast Delhi’s Yamuna Vihar area on Friday, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said.
According to the DFS, a call regarding a house fire was received around 3:50 pm from the Mohanpuri area.
Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately.
The blaze, which had erupted on the first floor of a four-storey building (ground plus four floors), spread to domestic articles, causing panic among residents.
“The situation was brought under control by 4:15 pm, and the fire was stopped by 4:30 pm after ensuring that the flames had been completely doused,” he said.
The officer further said that during the operation, four occupants of the house were rescued safely. They have been identified as Salman (24), his daughter Hibja (3), his son Hanimja (2), and Zazina (50).
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, he said.
The building is constructed on a plot measuring approximately 30 square yards, and the fire was confined to household items on the first floor, the officer said.
Firefighters carried out cooling operations to prevent any rekindling of the flames. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway, the officer added.
