'Delhiites stuck in other parts of city to be sent home after due consultation with medical professionals'

New Delhi: In order to help out residents of Delhi stranded in other parts of the city, a discussion was held between the top brass of Delhi Police through a video conference regarding preparations and arrangements for COVID-19.

Police sources told the Millennium Post that Commissioner of Delhi Police held the video conference in which a Special CP rank officer suggested that local residents of Delhi, who are in another part of the city due to the lockdown, may be sent to their residence in the national Capital. "CP directed that they should be sent to their homes after due consultation with medical professionals," sources said.

Another Special CP apprised about policemen who were found COVID-19 positive and their contacts being quarantined. The top cop directed that all preventive measures should be taken by senior officers and the same should also be briefed to the ground staff. During the video conference, a senior officer said that

primary verification related to Markaz was done and secondary verification was underway. "CP directed that to do the

same expeditiously," sources said.

Another officer said that police personnel and medical professionals living in other states and working in Delhi were being stopped at the border by other state police. CP said that the concerned Joint CP (Range) should discuss this issue with their counterpart and sort it out immediately.

CP further directed that when senior officers visit pickets, police stations, barracks, police colonies, they should brief the staff to take adequate preventive measures while dealing with COVID-19 patients. Also, sufficient distance should be maintained by staff posted in police posts, chowkies of hospitals. "One of the Special CPs was told to take out all the available force, unutilised so far, from different units and deploy them to assist the police station staff," sources added.

CP told officers that outside force should be briefed to maintain social distancing in their barracks and police staff should be deployed on pickets as per the requirements.

Meanwhile, on April 2, CP Delhi SN Shrivastava has appealed to citizens to unite against COVID-19. He tweeted, "I would like to reach out to every citizen of India to unite as a member of humanity to face the most serious challenge faced by modern civilization today. History teaches us that societies survive if they make the right choices at the right time in the right direction."

He further tweeted, " I suggest five simple mantras to make your individual contribution in our fight against COVID-19: We must practice Self-isolation, Social distancing, Self-hygiene, Self-Quarantine, and Co-operate with all health officials "LET US UNITE TO FREE INDIA FROM COVID-19."
