Delhiites finally see cloudy skies with light rain; conditions expected to last till June 19

New Delhi: Delhiites finally found some respite on Sunday morning after days of being jealous of the thundershowers in cities like Mumbai and Kolkata. The Capital saw light rainfall early in the day, bringing much needed relief to the residents here after weeks of heat-wave like conditions. As per weather office predictions, the sky remained cloudy in the day with the sun coming out just hours before sunset and not with as much intensity as in the last few days. Pre-monsoon activities taking shape of duststorms, thunderstorms are expected in the coming days which are to be followed by rain and thundershowers in parts of Delhi, according to the weather office.

In the wake of such weather conditions, temperatures in Capital are also expected to drop owing to the partly cloudy to cloudy skies, thus bringing a spell of wet weather after a prolonged period of dry heat, as per weather forecaster Skymet.

Skymet added that late on Saturday night, the weather in northern parts of the country took a turn towards the pleasant because of Western Disturbances, which are currently affecting Jammu and Kashmir. It added that the system had induced a cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and northern Rajasthan. In addition, humid winds from the Arabian Sea are also contributing to the weather conditions in the national capital region. Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad have seen searing temperatures in the last two to three days, with increasing temperatures causing heatwave conditions in some areas.
