Delhi Police's prompt action helps recover 12,000 illicit liquor bottles
New Delhi: Patrolling by the Jaguar team, along with stern action against liquor traffickers and tightening the noose on the negligence of policemen, have resulted in the recovery of illicit liquor across Dwarka.
The three-point strategy started bearing fruit within a span of a month for the Dwarka district which saw the recovery of more than 12,000 illicit liquor and beer bottles of different sizes from four subdivisions.
According to the police, crime prevention measures were briefed to police by senior officers who stated that there should be control over crime especially the illicit liquor and drugs selling. The focus was laid on the Dabri subdivision.
The data accessed by Millennium Post claimed that from July 11 to August 2, more than 20 cases were reported from three police stations of Dabri subdivision under the Excise Act, and 21 people including women have been accused. The local police recovered more than 7,000 quarters of illicit liquor.
A large haul of liquor was seized on two different days. On July 23, around 2,160 quarters were found under the possession of a person identified as Nakul from JJ Colony Bindapur. On the same day, another man was caught with 2880 quarters from A- block of Bindapur by constable Sandeep.
In another case reported on July 29, around 1060 quarters of illicit liquor were recovered from a woman in Dabri subdivision by Assistant Sub Inspector Kamla Singh.
The Dwarka subdivision seized more than 1,100 quarters of illicit liquor from Kakrola Village on July 17, and JJ Colony in the northern belts of Dwarka on 20th of the same month. The Najafgarh subdivision had four cases under the Excise Act and more than 1,000 quarters of illicit liquor have been seized.
Additionally, the Chhawla subdivision managed to seize over 1,000 illicit grog from five reported cases within the area.
Sources claimed that during the briefing of personals, senior officers informed the lower rank police personals that they will be rewarded for doing good work but at the same time will face action if any negligence is found.
DCP Anto Alphonse had rewarded 17 police personnel of the district for their audacious work. Vice versa to those rewarded, 10 policemen from two police stations of Dwarka faced consequences after the district vigilance team found them guilty of negligence.
The district police launched the Jaguar team comprising 80 policemen on 40 motorcycles across 10 police stations in bid to curb street crimes as well as the sale of illicit liquor and drugs.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse told Millennium Post that on receiving any information about illegal activities they reacted quickly. "We are putting sincere efforts to make sure that our residents feel safe," added the DCP.
