Delhi Police urges citizens to be wary of Momo game

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Thursday requested citizens to contact them if and when they receive any request to play the suicidal Momo challenge game. On its Twitter handle, the city police tweeted on Thursday, "For your FOMO (fear of missing out), Don't fall to MOMO game. Be #CyberSafe."

Senior police officials said they have requested residents of the Capital not to accept any invitation from unknown or known numbers to play the game and avoid clicking any unidentified links.

The Momo challenge reportedly started from foreign countries on Facebook, where used were"challenged" to communicate with an unknown number. The game uses the image of a doll, with scary features and large protruding eyes, before sending messages to anyone who accepts the challenge.

Almost a year after the Blue Whale Challenge, this new suicide challenge is being continuously monitored by different police of different states.

The Blue Whale challenge is a 'suicide game' reportedly consisting of a series of tasks assigned to players by administrators over a 50-day period.

Initially innocuous, elements of self-harm are introduced later, culminating into the player's suicide.
