Delhi Police redesignes seven-day refresher course for constables
New Delhi: The Delhi Police have re-designed seven-day refresher course for the constables working in the districts.
Police sources, quoting a letter content written by the Office of Police Commissioner, told Millennium Post that in day to day functioning of a police station, it is the constable who interfaces mostly with the public and police image hinges directly on how accessible and professional his approach is.
"The constable performs various tasks also in the beat area assigned to him such as prevention and detection of crime, the gathering of intelligence about the crime and criminals, maintaining a close on watch on active criminals meeting with senior citizens, RWAs, MWAs and fostering women safety. In the discharge of all such duties, his professional skills are always under close public scrutiny," sources said quoting letter content.
Adding further, sources said that in the letter, it was further written that therefore to improve their skills and capabilities and to boost their confidence in handling various critical field assingments, as also to keep them updated with modern technology, it is extremely imperative that refresher courses are conducted in the districts
regularly.
"With this important objective in mind, the presently run 7-day refresher course has been re-designed for the constables working in the districts with training subjects and schedules," sources said, quoting the letter content.
The refresher course, keeping in view its critical import, will be closely supervised by DCsP/Districts who will periodically visit the training centres and interact with the trainees.
Joint CsP (Ranges) will also monitor the same and ensure that these courses achieve the desired result.
The Additional DCP-1 of the district will be designated as the convenor for this refresher course.
The refresher course have several periods which includes inaugural address by Additional DCP, salute, turnout and handling of weapons, discipline and cleanliness, intelligence collection, duties of a beat officer, patrolling duties and security gadgets, community policing schemes, dealing with complaints, picket duty. The copy of the letter was sent to the senior officers in Delhi Police.
