Delhi Police PFWS kicks-off 'Mission Olympic Sports Meet'
New Delhi: The Police Families Welfare Society of Delhi Police (PFWS) on Sunday kicked off their Mission Olympics Sports Meet-2019 at the New Police Line Sports ground in the Capital.
The sports meet is organised in a bid to take a look at the preparation of the teams enlisted under "Mission Olympics". The PFWS said in a statement that this initiative is a concrete step towards boosting the performance of these teams.
Inaugurating the event, PFWS president, Suchana Patnaik said that the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams in providing skills, knowledge and empowerment to the family members of Delhi Police personnel. S Nithianandam, Special CP (Welfare) in Delhi Police was also present at the event with other senior officers.
This meet will see athletes and sportspersons from Delhi participate in competitive sports such as Kabbadi, Wrestling, Football, Badminton and Athletics.
While the Kabbadi and Wrestling events were held on Sunday at the NPL ground, with over 140 sportspersons participating, the other events are scheduled to take place on September 27 and 28. The Badminton and Athletics events will be held at BU Block, Shalimar Bagh and Polo Ground at NPL ground respectively.
In team sporting events, the sports meet is offering Rs 11,000 for winners and Rs 5,100 or runners-up as prize money; whereas in individual sporting events like Badminton, Athletics and Wrestling winners will be awarded Rs 1,100 and first runners-up and second runners-up will get Rs 700 and Rs 500 respectively.
The sports meet will also feature a special felicitation programme for 17 achievers of PFWS, in a bid to boost the morale of Mission Olympic participants.
