Delhi Police busts fake currency racket

New Delhi: Central Delhi Police has busted a syndicate involved in circulation of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) in the denomination of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500. Police claimed that the accused procured fake currency from their contacts in Bangladesh
The accused were identified as Enamul Miyan and Mohammad Kalilullah Biswas. The arrest was made by the special staff team led by Inspector Rakesh Sharma, comprising of head constable Vikram.
On December 24 police got information that Enamul would come at Urdu Bazar behind Kasturba Hospital, Jama Masjid to deliver a consignment of fake currency notes. At the spot, one person came from Darya Ganj side and the second person came there from hospital wali Gali side. Both the persons were apprehended by the raiding party.
"A packet containing 50 fake Indian currency notes of Rs 2,000 and 100 notes of Rs 500 were recovered (total value of Rs 1.5 lakh). From the search of Enamul Miyan, 40 fake currency notes of Rs. 500 (total value of Rs 20,000) and a packet containing original currency notes of Rs 75,000 were recovered," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Randhawa.
He said on questioning, Enamul disclosed that he gave the packet of fake currency notes worth Rs. 1,50,000 to Mohd. Khalilullah at fifty percent rate Both the accused were subjected to sustained interrogation, in which accused Enamul disclosed that he used to bring fake Indian currency notes from two persons and he further used, sold this fake currency in Delhi and adjoining areas. It has also been revealed that accused Khalilullah is involved in hawala transactions besides circulating fake currency notes. A raid was also conducted in the hotel room of Mohammad Khalilullah and total cash Rs. 12.77 lakh (original currency notes) was also seized," said the DCP.
