New Delhi: In a bid to facilitate cashless transaction for commuters, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday launched a dual purpose 'Metro Plus' debit card, in association with IndusInd bank.
With this card, commuters of Delhi Metro will get the first-of-its-kind facility of topping up their Metro smart cards directly from their account at any ATM.
In a statement DMRC said, "The 'Metro Plus' Card will enable IndusInd Bank debit card users to use it as a Metro smart card, as well as for regular debit card transactions. Commuters can also use this card in DMRC parking lots, feeder buses etc."
The 2-in-1 card, developed by IndusInd bank, has a Delhi Metro Transit chip embedded within, along with the secured debit card Chip.
"Customers can choose from the multiple modes to top-up their cards via IndusInd Bank ATMs, IndusInd Mobile application and netbanking, SMS, auto top-up etc, to recharge the Metro Transit chip," said the DMRC statement.
Speaking on the occasion, DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh said, "This initiative is in line with DMRC's commitment towards supporting the digital drive to promote cashless transactions among Metro commuters. Users of this card can also top up their smart cards at AFC gates across the Metro network, which will help them travel seamlessly without worrying about top-up from time to time".
"We bring to market an exciting card that not just removes friction from the Metro customers' daily commute and purchases, but also rewards the commuters with exciting offers for online and offline spends," said a senior official of IndusInd Bank present at the occasion.
