Delhi govt schools exempted from increased CBSE board exam fee

New Delhi: Except the schools of Delhi government, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has increased the examination fees for Class 10 and 12 Board examinations, 2020 on no profit no loss principle, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said in Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

The fee hike by CBSE is from Rs 750 to Rs 1,200, Pokhriyal in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha. "CBSE has increased exam fees of Class 10 and 12 board exams 2020 from Rs 750 to Rs 1500, for all students," he said. This also include students from Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe for all schools in the whole country.

"For 1,299 schools of Delhi government, examination fee for all categories of Class X students has been increased from Rs 375 to Rs 1,200 and for Class XII students from Rs 600 to Rs 1,200," he said.

He also said that CBSE is a self financed and self-reliant board and generates its own resources. "It does not take any funds from the consolidated fund of India or any other authority for its expenses," added Pokhriyal.

However, Delhi government schools have been exempted from the fee hike. No one

from the Delhi government was available to comment on the decision.
