NEW DELHI: The Delhi government on Friday invited proposals from organizations, universities and individuals for a partnership with the Directorate of Education, for developing an activity-based Curriculum for the new subject. Education Minister Manish Sisodia had announced in February that the Delhi government plans to introduce a new course in the next academic session, named 'Happiness'. The course will be introduced for Classes Nursery to 8. The proposals can be sent on happiness.doe@ gmail.com by March 15 2018. The Directorate will invite select entries to participate in a national level workshop that will be held towards the end of March.
Sisodia said that at a time when our neighbour Bhutan is formulating its policies to ensure a high Happiness Index for its citizens, by building an activity-based Happiness Curriculum for children studying in schools, we can not only help enhance their personality but also influence the direction in which we are heading as a society and nation. Sisodia expressed his views that 'Mindfulness', well-being, self-awareness are concepts that should be introduced to children at an early age to ensure long-term mental and physical health for all."
Delhi's Government schools have seen a remarkable turnaround in the last three years.
