Delhi Cong seeks probe into alleged graft by MCDs
NEW DELHI: Senior Delhi Congress leader Mukesh Sharma on Wednesday demanded a high-level inquiry into the alleged corruption in the collection of more than Rs 3,084 crore on the pretext of conversion and parking charges from the people of Delhi by the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Municipal Corporations.
Sharma also demanded that criminal cases should be filed against the guilty officials and they be arrested.
"The Delhi unit of Congress seeks the dissolution of all the three municipal corporations, which are immersed in corruption," Sharma told reporters at a a press conference at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office at Rajiv Bhawan, here on Wednesday.
The Congress leader said said that the Delhi BJP leaders have committed a crime by misusing this money, which is a violation of the notified rules of the Indian government. He said that under the garb of the Supreme Court order, the BJP leaders and officials were collecting crores of rupees in bribes by threatening the people with the SC order.
