Delhi CM announces 7-point action plan to fight pollution
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announded a seven point action plan to fight air pollution in the coming days. The decisions were taken in view of stubble burning and Diwali celebrations.
Speaking at Press conference here, Kejriwal said that after numerous discussions with RWS and experts, a seven "parali" action plan was discussed, which will be implemented in the coming days. "In the last seven to ten days, I had discussions with RWS and many experts, where we received more than 1200 suggestions regarding the issue," he said.
The seven plan action plan includes odd-even scheme that will be implemented from November 4 and will go on till November 15. "Studies have shown that due to odd-even scheme about 10-13 percent pollution decreases. This is an emergency measure," said Kejriwal.
Besides that, masks will be provided by the state government to the people of Delhi. The state government has also come up with a lazer show to encourage Delhiites to not burn crackers on Diwali. "Supreme Court has ordered that there will be no fireworks during Diwali celebrations, and so we request the people of Delhi to not burst crackers. Hence on Choti Diwali, a huge lazer show has been organised here, which will be a free entry," added Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, previous decision of sprinkling water all over Delhi has been kept in place and a plan is being created to keep all sweeping in the city mechanised. Kejriwal added that 12 "hotspots" have been recognised, where the level of pollution is the highest. "Special plans will be implemented for these 12 spots," he said.
Burning of leaves also tops the list of decision, where the chief minister has added that "environment martials will be hired in every ward of the area and we will involve RWS at a large level."
The last action plan involves plantation of more trees. "If any citizen wants to plant tress or saplings in their home, they can contact us on a number and we will home deliver people with trees," the CM said. Besides that Kejriwal averred that a "war room" has been created and all complaints related to pollution will be received in war rooms, while instant action will be taken on that.
