Delhi Assembly's two-day session to begin on Dec 2
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Assembly's two-day session would begin on December 2, the Deputy Chief Minister's office said on Monday. In a statement, the office of Manish Sisodia said, the government would introduce and pass the 'Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University Bill' and the 'Delhi Sports University Bill'. However, the opposition is gearing up to corner the government over air and water pollution in the city.
Drafts of the Bills had been approved by the Cabinet and accorded prior approval by the Lieutenant Governor for introduction in the Assembly, the Deputy CM's office said. "The Office of the Speaker has been intimated by the government about the legislative business for the forthcoming session," it said.
On the other hand, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel had conceded that about 18 Bills are going to lapsed, because the key Bills that could not be notified despite being passed in the House including the Delhi Lokpal Bill, the Delhi Right of citizens to Time-bound Delivery of Services Amendment Bill; the Code of Criminal Procedure (Delhi Amendment) Bill; and the Delhi School Verification of Accounts and Refund of Excess Fee Bill. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said he has been pushing for their assent from the Centre, but all has been returned to the Assembly, while the remaining were sent back by the President and the LG, outlining the need for reconsideration and amendments.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will on Tuesday launch a special poll campaign to celebrate the seventh anniversary of establishment of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
According to a statement by the AAP, the party said all its senior leaders would be participating in the function.
The party was established on November 26, 2012.
