In a move to improve the road safety and curb the recurring road accidents on 165-km long E-way, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has directed the concessionaire Jaypee Group, stating that the measures to be adopted for ensuring a safer drive should get implemented in the next two days.
"The E-way witnesses recurring road accidents, which are majorly caused due to over speeding and driver getting dozed off. In past three months, more than 40 thousand vehicles were sent E-challan for over speeding while around 3,000 vehicles were manually booked by the police," said a senior official from YEIDA.
"A surprise inspection will be conducted and if any point is found missing, strict actions will be taken," said Amarnath Upadhyay, Additional CEO, YEIDA. The road safety measures, includes booking the vehicles for over speeding, modification of cat eyes/road studs, road marking, etc.
