Completion certificate of 3 Unitech towers scrapped

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has cancelled the completion certificate of three towers in Unitech builder's project named Unitech Cascade located in sector Pi-2, Greater Noida.

The builder was found flouting the construction norms and not fulfilling the conditions necessary for the applications of the completion certificate.

The builder attained the completion certificate from the authority, citing fake documents and producing sham site pictures at the time of the previous government.

"Following several complaints from the home buyers regarding the builder, offering possession to buyers without developing the civic infrastructure and other necessary amenities, a team was sent to the site for inspection.

"All we found were the incomplete skeletons of concrete with no plaster or gates and windows in the flats. There was no lift or presence of fire safety measures in these three towers.

However, the builder has issued possession of the flats" said a senior authority official.

"We have cancelled the completion certificate of tower number two, three and four in the builder's project and have asked the builder to apply again for the certificate only after getting the necessary work done hence fulfilling the conditions for the application of occupancy or completion certificate.

There are around 170 flats in these three towers," officer further said.

The completion certificate is important for the homeowners because most apartments that are even being given for possession, do not yet have proper water connection and are running on power back up.

Until the builders procure completion certificates, the possession of the apartment is only ornamental because the house is not yet acquired.

However, the buyers have been paying rent and loan installments together for so long, that they are just taking possession anyway as to get some financial relief.
