Journalist robbed at MG road petrol pump, CCTVs non-functional

Incidents of crime do not seem to ebb at Gurugram's MG Road as on Saturday, a journalist was robbed at the area during a rush-hour period.

Working in a renowned media organisation, Kailash Gathwal, a photo- journalist went to a petrol pump at 9:30 pm.

At the pump while waiting for his turn to get the air filled in his vehicle tyres, his bag was flicked from the rear seat.

Among the key possessions, he got robbed of the reporter's camera, a purse consisting of Rs10,000, an ATM card and a hard disk drive.
The formal complaint under section 379 IPC (theft) has been filed at DLF Phase-2 station.

Shockingly, in an area that has already witnessed a series of notorious criminal activities, out of the eight CCTV cameras at the petrol pump, none was functional.

"It is indeed a matter of concern that robbery can be conducted at MG Road during a rush hour period and the culprits can get away without being caught.

It was also very upsetting to find that none of the CCTV cameras at the petrol pump was functional.

" These defects are being exploited by the criminals in the area who are daring and successful in carrying out their acts," said Kailash Gathwal.
This crime is also reported at a time when the police have increased the number of personnel in the area to carry out surveillance due
to increase in cases of molestation, prostitution racket and drunken driving.
