A 28-year-old property dealer was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Gurugram late on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Narender Kataria, who was a resident of Basai area in the outskirts of the city. Narender was gunned down by three unidentified people in Sector-9 area while he was approaching towards his SUV around 9 pm after playing a game of Badminton with his friends.
The assailants pumped four bullets into the victim and fled the spot. Narender was taken to a private hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
A case of murder was registered at Sector-9 police station and a special team has been formed for investigating the case.
Preliminary investigation by Gurugram Police revealed that Narender was murdered as he was embroiled in a property dispute over an acre of land in Bawal in Haryana's Rewari district.
On the basis of a complaint lodged by the deceased's brother, police have asked two people to come in for questioning, namely Lajpat Kaushik and Vijay Kaushik. Gurugram Police officials mentioned that they may question more people.
"Property dispute is proving to be the major reason for his murder. On the basis of the complaint, we have started questioning key suspects. We hope to arrest the people behind the murder," said Ranbir Singh ACP (Crime) Gurugram.
Brazen acts of property dealers being shot dead is not a new occurrence in the city. In February, two people were gunned down in broad daylight and another critically injured at a realty office in Farrukhnagar.
