The supply of water in parts of Gurugram was affected on Thursday as Chandu Budhera one of the two water treatment plants remained closed due to flooding which was caused by the overflow of the water channel.
Due to the overflow, the water boosting pumps at the water treatment plant has become nonoperational and are being rectified by engineers from Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
The affected areas are DLF City, Sushant Lok, Sector-56. Sector-32, Sector- 31 and Sector-17. "The problem of water supply may persist for three more days," said sources.
Meanwhile, the public officials released a notification requesting the residents for judicious use of water. The officials have stated that during this time of crisis, excessive use of water in the cleaning of cars and watering plants should be avoided.
The Chandu Budhera water treatment supplied 20 million of gallons per day (MGD) to Gurugram city. In addition to Chandu Budhera there is Basai water plant which supplies 70 MGD to the city.
This is not the first time when the city is facing a shortage of water supply due to problems at the water treatment plants.
