MCG surveys Airforce ammunition depot areas

The officials of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) have begun surveying areas that are in the range of 300 metres from the Airforce ammunition depot situated at the Old Delhi Road.

The move by the MCG is seen in the context of removal of civilian settlement that has come up around the Defence area. During the surveillance, they will inspect whether all the property owners have the legal documents. The case of clearing civilian settlements in the range of 900 metres from the Airforce ammunition depot is pending at the Punjab and Haryana high court.

Owing to the proximity to the Maruti Udyog factory, the area has witnessed mushrooming of commercial and residential units over the years resulting in an unchecked rise of commercial settlements that have cropped up around the area. "Most of the commercial establishments are operating illegally," said sources.

A large tract of spaces around Airforce ammunition depot resulted in setting up of automobile garages, wedding banquet halls, marble market consumer showrooms and residential households.
