Daughter-in-law detained, her lover arrested for injuring mother-son duo

Following the mysterious case where a mother-son duo was found lying unconscious with severe injuries, the police have detained one person from the family and arrested a gym trainer in connection with the case.

According to sources, the accused has been identified as Meenakshi, the daughter-in-law of the injured woman, Narayani Devi.

The family comprising of six members were found drugged inside their house in Bhalswa Dairy village on Monday.

The incident came to light when their neighbour visited the house and found that Narayani Devi and her son Anup were lying injured.

The police had initially suspected that someone from the family could be involved.

Later, after questioning the family members, they grew suspicious of Narayani's daughter-in-law and detained her at Jahangirpuri Police Station.

Later, it was found that the suspected had also drugged self after doing the same with her family members.

"We have arrested the gym trainer who had conspired with the woman to eliminate the mother-son duo," said a senior police official.

According to the police, the suspect was having an affair with the arrested gym trainer.

"The family knew about the entire affair. The accused had targetted the mother-son duo as they were influential members of the family," said DCP North West Milind Mahadeo Dumbere.

Also, her alleged boyfriend had given her specific instructions on how to incapacitate the entire family using sedatives.

"The family was given food laced with sedatives by the woman," Dumbere added.

The police stated that Meenakshi was discharged after she recovered from the drugging incident.

However, the police need permission from the magistrate to arrest her as she gained

consciousness post sunset.
