After the intervention by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), a liquor vending unit in New Usmapur area in North-East Delhi was closed down on Wednesday.
The DCW acted on the closure of the liquor vending unit after the local RWA had approached the commission with the complaint.
RWA mentioned in their complaint that incidents of molestation, petty fights and chain snatching incidents had increased in the area because of the liquor vending unit.
They also highlighted that it had also resulted in the large presence of anti-social elements due to which it had become difficult for the women and girls to venture out in the evening.
After receiving the complaint, DCW member Promila Gupta wrote to the DCP and SDM as soon requesting those to close the liquor vend.
Jatin Narwal DCP (North) on Wednesday informed DCW that they have taken action on the complaint and shut down the liquor vend unit.
