: The rape of a 35-year-old woman in Greater Noida has again highlighted the laxity of security measures in MG road Gurugram.
It is said that the victim who took the lift from Sahara Mall through her consent, was raped by three men and dropped off near a private hospital in Greater Noida.
The issues of molestation and thriving prostitution racket at MG road have always been a major challenge for the residents as well as the police officials.
The residents and commuters claim that MG road continues to be unsafe even after the horrific Manesar gang rape of a 19 –year- old mother and murder of her 8-month-old daughter.
For a city that has been in news for all wrong reasons with regards to women safety and security, complaints regarding the same are still being lodged.
Recently, a molester was thrashed by a group of women after he tried to molest a woman coming out from a mall late Saturday night.
It is MG road where most of the of the molesters have been held in the operations like Operation Durga initiated by Haryana Government and Operation Majnu initiated by Gurugram Police.
Despite the measures, women residents maintain the level of insecurity prevailing in the mall mile.
Moreover, there are still complaints of sex trade occurring in the area that comes under the jurisdiction of three police stations.
"At 11:00 pm near the Sikanderpur Metro station one can still see women in skimpy outfits and men in their SUV's stopping their vehicles and negotiating with them. It sometimes seems pathetic when even the men on the street try to negotiate with these women. Earlier the sex trade was carried openly after the incidents were reported it is now occurring in a discreet manner," said Amit Chugh, a city resident.
